Steele-Waseca board appoints Schlaak District 3 director
The Steele-Waseca Cooperative Electric board of directors appointed Neil R. Schlaak District 3 director during their regular meeting, Oct. 26, at the co-op’s headquarters in Owatonna.
Schlaak, of rural New Richland, was among five candidates interviewed by the Steele-Waseca board to replace former District 3 Director Duane Edwardson, who died Aug. 28, at the age of 84.
Schlaak’s first board meeting as director will be Tuesday, Nov. 21. He will be in position to serve until the co-op’s 88th annual meeting Tuesday, June 4, 2024. The seat is up for election this year, and Schlaak will have the opportunity to run for director, along with any other candidates submitted by the co-op’s Nominating Committee. The board of directors have yet to decide how board elections will be handled after the bylaws were amended during this past year’s annual meeting held June 6.
