Iverson among Quilt of Valor recipients

Retired Steele-Waseca Cooperative Electric Line Foreman John Iverson (center) was among five veterans nominated to receive a Quilt of Valor during a ceremony, Sept. 15, conducted by the Exchange Club of Owatonna at the VFW. Iverson, U.S. Army—Sergeant, 1969-72, was nominated by Wayne Starman (pictured right). Starman and Master of Ceremonies April Paxton (left) placed the handmade quilt over the shoulders of Iverson. The Quilt of Valor program awards handmade quilts, machine or hand quilted, to nominated service members or veterans who have been touched by war. Each quilt says unequivocally, “Thank you for your service and sacrifice in serving our nation.” The other veterans presented a Quilt of Valor included: Rene Gilormini, U.S. Army—Sr. Sergeant, 1979-2004; Steve Carroll, U.S. Air Force—Sr. Airman, 1989-92; Scott Lundberg, U.S. Army—Staff Sergeant, 1988-2009; and Michael Meyer, U.S. Navy—Petty Officer First Class, 1979-99.
