Identity theft is a growing problem. An identity thief uses an individual’s personal identifying information to open new accounts or misuse existing accounts, which causes disruptions and complications for both consumers and businesses.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires financial institutions, creditors, and utilities to implement the Red Flags Rule to verify identity.

When you contact SWCE for information about your account, you will be asked to verify your identity.

The primary account holder must make special arrangements for others, including a spouse, to access account information.
